Our research suggests a connection between temperature and mortality

The LIFE SIRIUS project is breaking new ground in air quality management. Our research in the Republic of Cyprus reveals a connection between temperature and mortality.

This work has been presented at the 16th International Conference on Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Physics—COMECAP 2023, Athens, Greece, 25–29 September 2023.

Did you know that poor air quality poses the largest environmental health risk in Europe? Especially in cities, the interplay between urban heat and pollution is taking a toll on our health. But here’s the twist: Our findings show that temperature impacts mortality in a nonlinear way, with the effects persisting longer at low temperatures.
